(open on Gusteau's Restaurant where Alfredo Linguini is serving Anton Ego, who, unlike usually, is wearing a hat)
Linguini: Pardon me, monsieur food critic. Is something wrong?
Ego: Everything! I'm giving your restaurant my lowest marks.
(Cut to Remy underneath Linguini's hat)
Remy: A bad review will ruin us, Linguini! Quick, get him a new plate!
(Remy yanks on Linguini's hair to control him; Linguini picks up Ego's plate, but Ego pulls it back towards him)
Ego: No, I'm not finished hating it yet!
(In the struggle, Linguini's chef's hat falls off, revealing Remy to all the diners in the restaurant)
Woman: Oh, a rat!
Man: It's a rat! It's a rat!
(Remy yanks on Linguini's hair again; Linguini again tries to take the plate, but in in the process falls onto the table and knocks Ego's hat off, revealing to everyone that a cat is underneath and is controlling Ego)
Woman: A cat! Oh, sacre bleu, a cat!
Ego: I'm sorry! He threatened my family!
(the cat growls and has Ego pick up a table knife, which he swings at Linguini, who blocks it with a serving tray; Remy has Linguini backflip over a table and taunt the cat, who controls Ego to engage Linguini in a fistfight; as the cat has Ego choke Linguini, Remy has Linguini use a nearby spaghetti noodle to distract the cat, who begins reaching for the noodle, only to get punched by Remy with Linguini's fist. Enraged, the cat has Ego pick up a shish kabob skewer and charge at Linguini, who flinches in anticipation; suddenly, the cat is shot multiple times and falls off of Ego's head, dead. The scene cuts to a policeman who fired the shots.)
Linguini: Whew! Excellent shot, monsieur policeman.
Policeman: Ah, yes. But every dog has its day.
(The policeman takes off his hat, revealing a dog underneath, to the amusement of everyone in the restaurant.)
