  • Just about eight days prior to the airing of this sketch, MADtv did a similar sketch parodying Geico commercials with real Geico customers and celebrities, which was for Guyco. The sketch was split up into two parts; the first part has Guyco customer Mary Poole telling the story of when she was in a rear-end collison, with Mo'Nique being hired as the celebrity to help tell her story, and it has her calling Guyco right away, similar to how Sally Johnson's agent at Gecko sent her a check right away, while the second part has Elmo from Sesame Street being hired as the celebrity to help tell another Guyco customer, Melinda Calkins' story of when she was in a car crash, which had just happened and was pretty similar to Sally's story, as Melinda was also hit head-on by a truck while en-route to her mother's funeral, which led to her father being catapulted through the windshield and hitting an iron fence face-first, thus killing him, while her sister was decapitated by the airbag, her head of which the police are still searching for, and Melinda's totaled car, which is a 1999-2004 Ford Mustang, is seen in the background as Melinda tells her story. Elmo's happy and cheerful tone provides a contrast to the depressed Melinda, who is struggling to cope with the loss of her parents, as well as her sister, thus struggling to do the commercial, with Elmo's sentences ending in laughs, Elmo saying that he retraces his steps when he loses things, in response to Melinda mentioning what happened to her sister and Elmo reading a street sign on a piece of the iron fence just as Melinda's father's body comes by in a bag on a gurney, while Melinda tries not to laugh, especially since it's her father's body and she still can't cope with her parents death, so she asks if they can do the commercial later, to which Elmo asks her to tickle him and laughs, which is the final straw for Melinda, as she is upset at him acting all cheerful and laughing when her parents are dead, causing her to throw Elmo into an offscreen passing car, knocking him out (as part of a running gag in the Sesame Street skits on MADtv, where they torture Elmo or potray him negatively, poking fun at him hogging the show's timeslot in recent years), before fleeing the scene. The scene then switches to Elmo being the Guyco customer and Carlos Mencia is hired as his celebrity. When Elmo regains consciousness, he goes out of character, speaking normally and occasionally swearing and acts like a diva. Upon realizing what's going on, he is upset that Carlos Mencia is the best celebrity they can give him, listing off other Mexican celebrities he would rather have, those being George Lopez, Cheech Marin or Wilmer Valderrama, which annoys Carlos, to the point where Carlos rips Elmo's head off when the latter asks him to help him up. Carlos then proceeds to throw Elmo's severed head at Mo'Nique's Toyota Prius, to which she responds by threatening to sue Carlos, which prompts Carlos to flee the scene.
