Allusions:

  • Various real-life recalled toys, including...
    • Barbie Happy Family Midge - recalled due to its depiction of teen pregnancy.
    • A Toy Story Buzz Lightyear plastic drinking cup with questionable straw placement resemblant of a penis.
    • Lawn darts - specifically the original metal-tipped model that was banned from the market twice - resulting in modern lawn darts having large, rounded foam tips.
    • Sky Dancers - flying toys that were recalled for causing injuries, including an instance of laceration and various instances of eyeballs getting gouged out, upon landing.
    • The Sesame Street Elmo with Tourette's syndrome is a reference to the real-life Elmo Knows Your Name doll - one unit of which had been reported as saying "Kill James". (referring to the 2-year-old boy who owned it, James Bowman of Lithia, Florida). The mother of James asked for a replacement voucher after the incident.
    • An Easy Bake oven; a few specific models have been recalled due to safety hazards - one of which even resulted in amputation of fingers.
    • Rad Repeatin' Tarzan (nicknamed "Masturbating Tarzan") - recalled and rereleased due to actions resemblant of masturbating, which was a result of how his spring loaded arm was sealed into the package, when it was supposed to have a karate chop feature, plus it also featured a button which made him emit his trademark yell, which made it sound like he was moaning from reaching orgasm.
    • Snacktime Cabbage Patch Kids, with a moving mouth and metal roller that the owner could feed snacks into - it was recalled after children got their fingers and hair severely bitten by it, one case of which saw a girl getting her hair completely ripped off.
    • A Colonial Viper toy from Battlestar Galactica - recalled for its plastic missiles being a choking hazard.
    • A Harry Potter Nimbus 2000 toy broomstick that was recalled for its vibration feature and its use for sexual matters by older teenagers.
    • RoboCarp - a Chinese knockoff of RoboCop featured in the previous sketch from the same episode, RoboCop vs. RoboCarp.
  • The ending possibly spoofs Village of the Damned.
  • The song the toys sing to Midge in this segment parodies the song "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year" from Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Trivia / Info:

  • All of the toys in the segment are either real toys who were controversial or models based on controversial toys.
  • Coincidentally, Buzz Lightyear himself, along with Woody and the other toys, ended up on the Island of Misfit Toys themselves on Kevin Shinick's MAD in the episode "FROST", which also featured a version of "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year".
    • As another coincidence, Buzz also encountered some rejected toys in the Toy Story Toons short "Small Fry", in which he got switched around with a kid's meal version of himself at Poultry Palace after Bonnie got a Zurg Belt Buckle in her Fun Meal - much to her disappointment, as she already has one and wants a Buzz Lightyear, but is told their supply has run low, so he mother asks if she can have the one on display, but the cashier tells her that it's for display only. Once Bonnie and her mother leave, The Mini Buzz complains that their never gonna get played with to the Mini Zurg and then sees Andy's and later Bonnie's Buzz who she had brought to the restaurant, along with Rex, which leads to him escaping the display case, offering Zurg to come with him, but Zurg refuses, as he doesn't want to get in trouble with the "chicken people" (referring to the staff of Poultry Palace). The Fun Meal Buzz then proceeds to switch places with Bonnie's Buzz when she's playing in the ball pit, so Bonnie's mom ends up picking up the Mini Buzz, failing to notice, while the real Buzz gets left behind at Poultry Palace. The Mini Buzz fools Rex into thinking he is the real Buzz after having been shrunk by the plastic in the ball pit, who then tells the other toys this when they ask what happened to Buzz, But the other toys see through this and Woody asks where the real Buzz is. Meanwhile, the real Buzz tries to escape through the ventilation system, but he ends up falling into a storage room where the support group for Discarded Fun Meal Toys, led by Queen Neptuna, a warrior mermaid and T-Bone, a steak transformer, are holding a meeting and they think Buzz is another rejected toy and obligate Buzz to take part before he escapes using one of the abandoned toys, Gary Grappling Hook while the Mini Buzz annoys Bonnie's toys (except a gullible Rex) with his obvious ruse and antics until Woody tackles him and they tie him up and try to come up with a plan to break into Poultry Palace until the real Buzz returns and takes the Mini Buzz back to Poultry Palace, where he joins the support group with Bonnie's Buzz as his sponsor.
  • More infamous recalled toys in the segment that were not shown in the segment include:
    • A Burger King Pokémon Poké Ball, recalled due to a 13-month-old girl getting it stuck on her face.
    • I Heart Guts Uterus Plush, recalled due to the inappropriateness of the toy.
    • Magnetix, recalled due to children eating the plastic pieces.
    • Aqua Dots (a.k.a. Bindeez and Orbeez), recalled due to kids swallowing it since it contains GHB (Which can send people into numb).
    • Various Dora the Explorer and Sesame Street toys made by Mattel, recalled due to containing lead paint. the boss of the toy factory, Zhang Shuhong, committed suicide after the recall.
    • Alien Wiggle Toy, recalled due to the inner gel containing E. Coli.
    • Barbie and Tanner, recalled not because of the toilet humor in the toy, but the magnet in the scooper fell out and caused intestinal perforation, infection or blockage, which can be fatal.
    • Various Battlestar Galactica missile toys, recalled due to one child swallowing the missiles, which prompted the parents to sue Mattel.
    • Cars Sarge Die-cast toys, recalled due to lead paint.
    • Clackers, recalled due to children becoming injured by them.
    • Hoverboards, recalled due to people falling off them, causing fires (due to the lithium-ion batteries), and melting.

Goofs / Nitpicks:

  • When the Cabbage Patch Doll bites the Buzz Lightyear Cup's "straw", his eyes bulge out and he screams in agony (due to it acting like his penis), indicating that, like with the doll's issue, it was damaged, but after the song, it is completely fine.
