Allusions:

  • This sketch is a parody of The People's Court.
  • Garfield, Odie, Jon Arbuckle, Nermal and Pooky are from the cartoon and comic series Garfield.
  • Heathcliff is from the cartoon and comic series of the same name.
  • Chester Cheetah is the mascot of the popular cheese snack Cheetos.
  • Timer is from the Saturday-morning animated PSA series Time for Timer. His most well known PSA, "I Hanker For a Hunk of Cheese", promoting cheese as part of a healthy diet, is also referenced.
  • In the beginning of the cat fight, Heathcliff tells Garfield to open his eyes all the way. This alludes to the fact that Garfield appears to not have his eyes fully open.

Trivia / Info:

  • We never really find out if Heathcliff lived or died after the fight.

Goofs / Nitpicks:

  • Garfield doesn't open his mouth to talk in the cartoons/comics (however, he does in the movies and CGI cartoons).
  • Garfield eats more than just lasagne.
  • The announcer talks about the assault case against Chester Cheetah; yet, he is standing in the plaintiff stand and Timer is in the defendant stand.
  • Timer is not a cat, so why would he be in a Cat Court?
  • Heathcliff says that he was in the funny papers 5 years before Garfield, but it would later come to light that Garfield's strip actually started earlier as a local publication called Jon in 1976; 3 years after Heathcliff debuted. This wasn't common knowledge at the time.
