Allusions:

  • Parody of Rambo.
  • The soldier tells Rambo that they washed his beloved bandana because they knew it was the sum total of what separates his character from Rocky.
  • The tortures on John Rambo are based around popular culture.
    • Rambo is forced to watch the sitcom Whitney.
    • One of the two North Vietnamese soldiers reads him Twilight.
    • Rambo is forced to play the infamous video game adaption of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600, which is widely considered one of the worst video games ever developed, having been a catlyst in the video game industry crash of 1983.
    • While Rambo is being served a meal prepared by the soldiers, with soothing music playing on a boom-box, the music suddenly switches to a parody of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up", which is a reference to the Internet practice of "Rick-rolling".
    • Rambo is forced to watch a performance by the Swiss mime group Mummenschanz.
    • Rambo is forced to watch the scat-fetish pornography Internet video known as "2 Girls 1 Cup".
  • When the Vietnamese torturers throw water upon Rambo, he shouts "Geneva Convention!". It should be noted that this decrees that no form of torture should befall any prisoner of war, and that they should be treated as fair human beings. However, the irony of this exclamation is that the American (John Rambo) shouts it, after being water-boarded, with America regularly torturing their own prisoner's of war, in the Vietnam War and with the current wars.
    • Water-boarding is, of course, a popular way to torture prisoners to force confessions or gain information.

Trivia / Info:

  • The boom box was made by "Re-MeNT".
  • Words to the song played while the soldiers fed Rambo:
    • (Sung to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up")
      • Gonna never let you out
      • Of my rape dungeon.
      • Never gonna tell your folks
      • Where you… got to.
      • Whoo!
      • My rape…
      • My rape dungeon.
      • Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
