Alfonso was born as the son of famous actor Morgan Freeman. Alfonso did not meet his famous father in person until 1984, when he came to L.A. to film the TV mini-series "The Atlanta Child Murders" (1985) (mini). He has made many movie and TV appearances including the movies: The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Se7en (1995); and guest appearances on: JAG, ER and Providence.
